Bloomberg Businessweek’s “Tech 100” issue was just released last week and we are happy to report that Visa was ranked #26 on the list. Our inclusion in the list for the first time is an important recognition of what Visa really is — a payments technology company with a 50+ year legacy of connecting consumers, merchants, financial institutions and governments, with a faster, more secure and more flexible form of payment.
Of course, we’re also happy to be in good company, ranked alongside technology bellwethers like Apple, Amazon.com and Oracle.
Quick rundown on methodology: To compile the rankings, Bloomberg Businessweek started with the more than 6,500 actively traded companies in the Bloomberg database and divided them into 13 tech sectors. (Visa, a payment processing technology company, was classified by Bloomberg as an IT services company.) From there, they utilized a series of metrics and pared the list down to the top performing publically traded technology companies in the world.
For those of you interested in learning more, you can find the full list and description of the methodology here.
